Holiday style Continued (For some reason it wouldn't let me add a little write up)
Merry Christmas!!! I know it's been a little while but thought I'd do a little something on holiday style. Wether it's for Christmas Parties or New Years. It's that time for sparkle and shine!! For me, sequins and fun come to mind as well as gorgeous fabrics and colours! For our holiday dinner at work I made myself a little black dress with some gold lace down the centre. So I dipped into the black and Gold trend as well as the mini dress trend. Paired it with red shoes and a red purse. It was so fun! Can't wait to wear it again! Wishing you all fabulous and fashionable holidays :)
ps hope you enjoy my little compilation of ideas and maybe find them helpful:)

Heart Truth Gala 2013 Announcement
Happy almost weekend! How was everyone's week? It's been pretty busy for me. Work has been crazy! We have Christmas music playing and everything. Busy little elves we are! The only thing missing is snow. I think if it would just snow (usually we've got a good amount by now) it would feel more Christmasy.
So, last Friday I went to Moncton for the Heart Truth Gala launch for 2013 where they made the big announcement of who the headliner would be. I actually did the tweeting for the Fashion Council. My first time using hash tags and all that jazz lol. Us designers have known all along who the headliner is but not the public. The Headliner this year is going to be .....drum roll please...Chantal Kreviazuk!! So exciting! I went to see her with my mom a few years ago and it was one of the best shows I'd been to ( the other, "The Wall", this past summer in Quebec city...have I not talked about that?? Holy cow , it was amazing). Anyways, super pumped for this years show. I think this year is going to be bigger and better than the last for sure!
This is from this years show. The models are all up on stage dancing at the end of the show with headliner, Mia Martina. |

Equestrian
Hello, how was Tuesday? Tuesdays for some reason at work, seem long. Mondays usually go by rather quickly which is weird because Mondays aren't always everyones favourite day of the week!! I know I had a serious case of them yesterday...tired, cranky, irritable. I'm thinking the change of weather has something to do with it. I know it might sound strange but one of the most annoying things is trying to find a pair of socks in the morning. All Summer and part of Spring, I don't need them and now I can never find a match. Yes, I could make sure they are all paired up but I'm just not that good at it. Also, during this time of the year (Here in Canada Anyways) one must choose what coat they will wear and not mind being seen in most of the time. I have two: A nice black wool coat with a ruffle and military inspired detail and a nice warm feather filled one for those uber cold days when I am too cold to think about being stylish. Anyways, it doesn't mean one has to neglect their clothing that everyone at work will see (unless you wear a uniform...which I think I would have to find a way to spice up and make fun for me, kind of like Will Smith on Fresh Prince of Bel-air and his School uniform!). So, sometimes when the weather and lack of sunlight gets me down, I do what I love best...something fashionable. As a young girl my mom used to make us choose our outfits for the following day. Most kids might not enjoy this but I absolutely loved it!! I may not have always been successful but definitely creative. I thank her for letting me be me:) Anyhow, today I was feeling a little bored with my wardrobe. I don't exactly dress up for work...it would be kind of silly of me too but no less fun. I do love to dress up. so I decided to go back to that time of choosing an outfit carefully and this is what I came up with: I had some nice camel coloured skinny cords(I would have never ever worn these just a few years ago but they are surprisingly comfortable and don't look as bad as I thought) I paired them with a sheer t-shirt type top from H&M , my Arturo Chiang Riding boots (which I adore) and some fun little earrings I had forgotten about which I received as a gift for participating in the Red Dress Fashion show this year. There, my Equestrian inspired outfit for the day! And topped it off with a sort of pony tail and bow elastic for a girly touch. This is what I put together as an example. The earrings weren't feathers, they were Aluminum by Jon Klar. They were however, this color combo. The only thing missing is a winter jacket!!! And I would love to own that purse. Mine was black. I think this one would have looked much nicer. It's also a great colour for Fall/Winter. What trends will you try this season? Be sure to have fun with it. It's not about going out and buying a new wardrobe. It's about taking what you have and being creative with it!

Remembering and Bond
Bonjour! Wow, it's already the middle of the week. I love when Monday is a holiday. Makes the week shorter and no case of the Mondays! I hope everyone took a moment this past weekend to remember those who fought and died for us and wore your poppies proud (well, in places they are worn around this time). My Grampy took part in WWII and every year he puts on his uniform with pride. He's 92 and has a hard time getting around so he didn't walk in the parade. A couple of years ago he was asked if he would like to go on the veterans bus. His reply was if he couldn't walk with pride he would not go. I love my Grampy.
Although this weekend was one for remembrance, we did do a few other things. I went to my friends 30th birthday party which was awesome. I had no idea but I was the surprise. She didn't know I was coming! Also, finally.....I saw the movie I've been waiting for, "Skyfall". So good. It met my expectations 100%. The cast was great and Bond was wonderful, as usual. Daniel Craig truly fits the role and gets better with every movie.

Anna Karenina
Allo! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and didn't forget to "Fall Back". It was actually kind of nice to have that extra hour. I made it to the gym!! As usual, I will not enjoy the early darkness..but I will get used to it. It's just a bit blah when you are at work all day and then it's dark when you get home. It definitely doesn't help me get motivated to do anything. Ugh....I will have to find a way! Anyways, Although I've been excited for the newest Bond movie and having a "Bondathon" all week, the movie "Anna Karenina", has caught my eye and I really do want to see it!! I think the reasons are obvious. It's based on a novel by Tolstoy. It's a story of forbidden love; Anna Karenina's with the Count Vronsky (she's married), is the main story. It also has political undertones based on Tolstoy's views of Russia at that time. I usually read the book before the movie but lately I have a hard enough time sitting down to read a magazine. We will see. Hope you all have a wonderful week:)

Photo and info via www.dailymail.co.uk I am completely in love with the wardrobe....it's period and lovely. The clothing was inspired by 50's designers such as Dior and Balenciaga...amazing. |
