Weekend Getaway

It's almost the weekend!!!! And for us here in Canada, it's a long weekend...and for me...it's the beginning of my vacation!!! Yay! I was just having a little fun with weekend wear....I prefer to dress up a bit on the weekend because well..I don't usually during the week.  Speaking of clothing, Today I saw somewhat of a fashion flop...someone was wearing Polka...Dot...Skinny...Jeans....with a frumpy sweater and not so cute shoes...ahhhh!!! I love polka dots but oh my. I wanted to turn on my fashion siren and stop her.   I'm not saying polka dot pants are a faux pas, just a challenge.  How would I wear them?? Well, let me tell you....for the top, a nice light blouse, maybe with a cinched waist.  I'm thinking white with a little ruffle or bow ( pants are black with white polka dots).  On the feet, some sweet ballet flats, either black or a soft colour (no browns...don't let me get started on that).  Now this person definitely had potential..the pants were a good fit...it was just the rest of the assemble.
Anyhow, on to fun stuff...I've already started my fall forecast....not sure if anyone has noticed but sales are on (I've been getting emails for the past week or so)...which means fall fashions are upon us!  My boss asked me at work if I've started checking out trends...Ha! Have I started? Of course I have!!!  Been on it for a while...it's my thang.  Exciting! Stay tuned!  Happy almost weekend!!

p.s how awesome is that purse...adore!!!!

Weekend

Allo! I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I ,as usual, planned on doing lots and didn't really do it all! I wanted to clean, work on designs....the usual....but I guess I also needed to just chill out. I had my cousins wedding reception last night.  It was fun!  I got to wear my new dress.   Made me want to wear my wedding dress again.  I still can't believe it's been over a year since we got married.  Time sure does fly!

My Sunday morning Cappuccino.  It was delicious.  Especially with all the rain in the morning...mmmmm...coffee. I was pretty tired this morning so skipped the gym. I decided to do my at home work out with Jillian Michaels...yikes!!

My new pair of earrings! I designed these cute gals.  Well, I designed  them and one of our Metalsmith, Chris, brought them to life for me!  Thank you!!  I've been wanting a pair of cute little bow earrings for a while now.  I actually had drawn something similar to these as an idea for my wedding...and I finally got them! Yay! They are super cute on too! I wore them with my new polka dot dress this weekend to my cousins wedding reception.  I got compliments:)

I couldn't help myself.  I may have indulged in a little shopping this weekend... I went to Spring on the weekend and picked these ladies up.  I saw them in the latest Lou Lou magazine.  They were only $15! Perfect little summer flip flop...nice for the beach or running to the store.

Summer Time!

Happy first day of Summer!!!  It was a scorcher!  I guess it's time to get out the air conditioner. This uber hot weather got me thinking of summer style...once again.  It's similar to spring style but I'd say a little smaller, ie swimsuits and show shorts!   Here's an easy fun summer look...well one of many.  You got your basic tank, shorts and simple accessories that add just the right touch (Hello gorgeous MK bag!).  Tank tops are great because they can come in a  variety of colours and patterns...but they're a basic fit and look well on most people and you can dress them up or down.   Denim shorts go with any kind of top (except for long and billowy making it look like nothing on the bottom!! lol) My favourite spot to get them are American Eagle or Aerie.  They have different length options which is great because not everyone can wear short shorts or as I like to call them , Boom boom shorts lol. As for the accessories, you don't always need too much during the summer.  Hats are great to keep the sun from burning your head while doubling as fashion statement.  They come in different shapes and sizes, so, there's one for everyone!  I just love the look of bangles. You can stack them or wear them alone depending on how busy you want your wrist to look.  As for other jewelry, I say keep it simple.  If you're going to wear a necklace remember...tan lines...so either go light and be sure to wear your sunscreen!  The evening however, is a whole other story!! There are no rules, just be sure not to go over board.  Coco Chanel once said "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory".  One of my favourite things though are sandals.  Oh how I love them.  I know most women have a shoe fetish. For me, it's sandals...flip flops...wedges..etc.  I will buy as many as I can get my hands on.  My husband would agree!  I saw recently, that Spring has a few cute neon coloured ones.  Yes...I'm on a bit of a neon kick.  I guess I didn't get enough of it when I was younger lol.  However, I have to say, it's back with a little more class.  No fanny packs or wind breakers this time!  I know it seems like I'm all about the brights but I have a soft spot for pastels too.  They would make for another sweet summer look.  I imagine soft fabric, maybe a sun dress, strappy sandals, minimal accessories,  clutch, maybe some little pearl earrings and dainty chain bracelet....oh I love fashion!  I forgot to mention...I purchased another pair of coloured denim pants, bright coral!!! Oh how I love them.  Hello, my name is Adrienne and I have an addiction...to colour!

Polka Dots and Buttons

Hello All! I can't believe it's been a week since I've been on here! It's not like I've been uber busy or anything....No excuse whatsoever!  I apologize.  Maybe I have been in a slump or something...don't worry I'll get my groove back:)  Nothing too exciting has happened since my last post...although I did come home to this lovely little package containing...yes...that's right...this sweet little dress! It's even more lovely in person.  And I know it looks simple but it's about the details.  That's what I look for.  I find it so difficult to find something truly worthy of my hard earned dinero around here.... One reason why I prefer to create my own designs...and then they're also unique.  However, this little number found on line just stole my heart.  It's got these cute little polka dots (adore!!! One of my favourite fashion features) , sweet button detail on the back and a bit of a retro throw back.  Love it all.   Dresses are probably my favourite fashions to wear.  If I could wear them every day, I totally would!!  It may look funny at work or even be ummm challenging to work in at times but I would do it anyways!  I figure clothing is a form of expression and I'd be expressing myself;)  Stay Tuned for more!

My cute little dress...I was thinking of wearing it to a wedding party this weekend..can't decide between it and the floral dress that I made.
I didn't even notice the pleated detail on the neck when I ordered it.  It was a pleasant surprise!  The whole dress has tiny pleats, which I do enjoy.
I'm a sucker for buttons at the back.  I feel they can add so much to a piece. The little keyhole in the back adds a little  something too! (maybe a little more sexier;)

Tennis an Hunger Games

Hello all!  It's Tuesday but I keep thinking it's Wednesday...that can't be good!  Hopefully I catch up on what day it is before I think Thursday is Friday and am disappointed lol.  I played Tennis tonight....ugh..not so good.  It's been a couple weeks and not even my cute outfit could help me! I've been told I'm doing quite well for a beginner but well...I'm a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes I want to be good right away! I've never really played much sports so this is new to me.  I love the gym and doing classes but the whole sports thing has always intimidated me.  Probably because I can get really competitive and well lets just say I don't always like that person lol.

This past weekend I read the first book of this awesome trilogy.  I could not put it down!! I ended up buying all the books and am reading the second one right now.  I was so disappointed when it was no longer in theatres! I love ready a book and then seeing how it's interpreted on the big screen.  I was especially curious of the fashions! And I have this huge crush on Lenny Kravitz!

Check out that oufit and hair! Oh I want to see the movie!

The Fashion was awesome off screen too! Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen) wearing Prabal Gurung.

Oh love! I am a huge fan of Marchesa and this dress is so detailed I love it. She knew exactly how to dress, "The girl on Fire".

Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinkett) also had some fun dresses while promoting the movie!!! Love the colours.  Hello Tangerine Tango! (Marc Jacobs, Elie Saab and Versace)

And last but not least...Lenny in the Hunger Games.  I felt that he looked the part (I'm not sure about the acting because I didn't see the movie but I'm sure he did great!) based on reading the book.

Prima Donna Girl

Can you believe it's already almost the weekend?!!  Yay!  I've had  the song "PrimaDonna Girl" by Marina and the Diamonds stuck in my head for two days.  I just love it!  This is what I would wear as a Prima Donna girl.  Ooooh Lala!   This song has actually inspired some creativity for my next line!  I love it when the creative juices start flowing:) Enjoy!

Birthdays and Jewellery!

It's already Wednesday!?  I've been slackin' on the posts!  Hope everyone has had a good first half of the week.  It was my birthday Monday...a rather big one for me :)   My awesome Hubby surprised me with a new Macbook (my laptop was slowly falling apart ), one reason why my posts haven't been happening....I've been trying to figure it out!  One of the best parts of my Birthday; I had the day off!  I skipped Monday! Aaannnndddd I finished my dress...that's right challenge successful! It was a pretty good day besides being cold and dreary out.  I spent it being creative and with family....two of my favourite things:)
Speaking of creative... I thought I would share a few photos of the new store since I've spoken about making my dress for the opening.  It's an amazing looking store.  So stylish, modern and chic....I dare you not to buy something fabulous!

This is the new What On Earth Store!!!   This particular picture is the entrance area.
Where you get to pay for your fabulous finds!
A view of the displays!  It's all so stunning.
Other side of the store....there's so much to choose from!
One of my awesome birthday gifts.  It's called "Bite Me", made by WOE .  This one was designed by Danielle one of  our talented metal smiths.  When I first saw it I said I had to have it!  It's supposed to be Snake teeth but I like to call it my Eric Northman ring;)
This is the second dress I made to wear on my birthday. I finished it that day...and started it the day before!  It fit me perfect and I love it.  I was going for a retro sort of look.  However, note to self....it was no stretchy enough for my after supper belly! lol

My week

I hope you all had a good week! I think mine was pretty good.  Monday was our first anniversary and that sneaky husband of mine got me a day off work and spoiled me with an afternoon at the spa!  I was so surprised.  All I got him was a card and a golf magazine haha....I figured it was the "paper" anniversary...I'd stick with paper! But I'm not going to complain, it was a fabulous treat!  Tuesday and Wednesday I was very busy sewing my dress for the store opening.  So, I worked all day getting jewellery ready for the store and then sewed my little butt off when I got home.   I have to say, I'm pretty happy with it!  I wasn't sure if I could get it finished but I got the last stitch in Thursday afternoon....and Voila! Toute fini! I can't wait to wear it again somewhere...now onto my "birthday" dress...I'm excited!   Oh and today, I got a fun new pair of wedge sandals from ShoeDazzle...aaannnddddddd,..... I finally did it!! I purchased a pair of teal coloured denim!  Yay! I can't wait to wear them:)         Happy Weekend all!

New Shoes! They are so fun...hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow and I can wear them!

I can't believe how challenging it was for me to get a pair of coloured denim...first they fit odd and I couldn't decide what color...then I went back today and tried again.. not all the colours came in my size....but it did help narrow down what colour to choose.....and I have to say these are great.  They even fit better then the other ones I tried for some reason.  I have some cute leopard print flats that look awesome with them!

Here is a little pic of my dress! I just love it.  And yes I had to have some fun lining.  I'm all about the fun lining! I paired it with some red shoes and purse and my design, "you make my heart go bling"crystal pearl earrings. It looks much better on me then on a hanger:)
